Types of Fiber
Dietary fiber comes from plant sources and generally there are two types of fiber:
- Insoluble fiber
- Soluble fiber
Many plant foods contain both types of fiber. Our body need both types of fiber and in nature, there are more insoluble fibers than soluble (eg in vegetables).
Both the American Dietetic Association and The British Nutrition Foundation advocate public to consume fiber from a range of sources to ensure maximum health benefits.
